Sea Isle City

Ok, so I said I would post about our vacation and add some pictures which I'm finally getting around to doing. I always hate coming home from vacation and getting back into the normal routine. It takes me forever to get caught up on laundry and get everything put away including the suitcases. Which just made their way back up in the attic today!!

This was the first year that we took two weeks in a row for vacation. It was so nice having that extra week . Tim especially enjoyed this since he was more than ready for a vaca after a busy and stressful month at work. We rented a place in Sea Isle with my aunt and cousins on 52nd street. We were only a block and a half from the beach so it was an easy walk with all our stuff and kids.

The house has a huge cart with giant wheels so we could throw just about everything and possibly the kitchen sink too. We had no schedule to contend with and kind of just went with the flow each day. We generally never made it to the beach too early. By the time everyone was up and got moving and bathing suits and sunscreen was applied it was always almost 11:30am. So by that time we would always just wait a bit and feed everyone lunch and then head to the beach. This seemed to work out well for us and then we would be at the beach till about 5. That's my favorite time to be there when everyone starts packing up to go home. The first week my sister Donna and nephew Shane were also down with us. The girls loved having Aunt Donna at the beach and Aidan had fun with Shane except for his skim boarding incident. Let's just say I think Aidan's ego was bruised a little more than his butt! My other sister Lisa came a couple days to the beach with us and my nephew Matt also came over a few days to hang out as well so the kids had fun playing with their big cousins. The boys had some xbox 360 marathons going on during the week and i think my cousin Jeff will need to go to xbox anonymous after this trip! Aidan especially loved having them around and going for nighttime bike rides with them. It seems like it's only been a couple years since they were the little ones at the beach. How time flies!!!

I was a bit worried with how the girls would make out at the beach all day with the whole potty training. I know again with the potty training!!! But luckily they did pretty well. Brynn is now officially potty trained and wears underwear all the time except for bed but even then she's starting to wake up dry now. We told them they could pee in the ocean if they had to go so they would walk down to the water and spread their legs and let it fly!!! As much as we tried to get them to go out further they wanted no parts of it. I couldn't blame them much because the water temp was only 60' F. Tim and I would run back to the house when we had to go. Molly and Brynn both had an accident on the same day at the playground. We took them after dinner one night and they were having a ball running around playing. Brynn said she had to go and as soon as she said it out it came. Tim took her to the car to get cleaned up but of course all we had in there was an extra pull up. After he came back I asked Molly if she needed to go and she told me no. She then went climbing up one of the other slides and I went over to get her to make her try and as soon as I went to grab her she starts peeing right there. So needless to say our playground trip was cut short that day. On a positive note our very last day we were getting set to go to the beach and Molly said she had to go poop and before she could blink I had her pants pulled down and her sitting on the potty and she finally did it!!!!

The boys had a day out of their own and went crabbing. Tim rented a boat and took Aidan, Matt and Shane out one morning. They only caught a half dozen but had fun. Aidan liked that he drove the boat. Shane's big story he told his mom was that he heard Uncle Tim drop the f-bomb. In Tim's defense he was getting attacked by greenheads when he was pulling up a crab. When I told Tim about Shane telling Donna he said "I didn't say that" and Aidan who was listening to our conversation goes "Yea you did Dad" They said they thought they were going to get carried away off the boat by the greenheads. I'm glad i didn't go. We did a family pic one night on the beach and I guess they liked the lotion I had on because at one point I had about 10 of them swarming my legs. Of course I handled it very smooth as I was running around in circles on the beach screaming. My nephews got a kick out of that one.

We also spent one morning at the Cape May Zoo and I think we picked the hottest day of the year and the most crowded. We didn't stay long, the girls wanted to see the giraffes and they were content to leave once they did. Here's Tim enjoying the heat at the zoo!!

It was a fun vacation full of new memories for the kids including many that I share from my childhood spent in Sea Isle. Especially going to Yum Yum for ice cream, walking along the promenade and shopping in the shell shop which is still there! Also going over to Ocean City boardwalk to go on the amusement rides and have some Mack and Manco's pizza. We look forward to many more family trips to the shore!!
