Happy Campers = Wet Campers

Last weekend we went as a family camping up in Lancaster. Last year Tim and his brother Jeff went in together and bought a used pop up camper. I think Tim may have forgotten he had married a girl who had never been camping in her life. He's gone a couple time with Aidan and has been wanting us to all go. We planned on going to Lancaster for the weekend and thought it would be a good time of year to do so.The campground is on a dairy farm out in the middle of Amish country. We got a late start on Friday night and ended up getting there after 7:30 and had to set up in the dark. Tim did all the work with just the help of either Aidan or I holding a flashlight. The girls had both fallen asleep in the car right before we got there so they slept through the whole process which was probably a good thing. They woke up for a little bit and liked playing in the camper since this was their first time camping too. They only beat me by 35 years!!! I slept with the girls in the one bed and Tim and Aidan were on the other side in theirs. I woke up in the middle of the night to a strange tapping noise which I quickly realized was rain. We were up bright and early and it had stopped raining for a bit but some dark clouds were rolling in. We got dressed and went to breakfast and then took the kids on an Amish horse and buggy ride. While on the tour the rain began again and never stopped!!!! We stopped at a couple of stores and headed back to the camper. While we were there the storm picked up and I truly thought we were going to be like the house in the wizard of oz and blow away. After a few hours cooped up in the camper we brave the weather and went to a farmer's market close by. We walked around there for about an hour and then decided to eat dinner out since we wouldn't be cooking on a campfire anytime soon. We came back and the rain continued to fall. With nothing to do the girls were asleep before 8:00 and then Tim, Aidan and I played uno for a bit but I think I was asleep by 9:00 as well. Tim found the Phillies game on the radio so he listened to that. We woke up to a beautiful sunny day. Of course, we had to start packing to go home. Even with all the bad weather and me asking to go check in a hotel ; ) I would go again much to Tim's surprise!!

Waiting to go to OZ!!!

Sammy loved camping too!!!
