After heading home from my sister's, I had one day to get Aidan's clothes washed and packed since he was leaving on Sat morning with his Grammy and Pop Pop to West Virginia for the week. They had rented a new log cabin home on a lake and invited us along. Unfortunately Tim's company picnic was the following Tues and since he was the manager in charge he couldn't exactly skip it. We figured we'd head out either Tues. night or early Wed morning. This was Aidan's first time going without us. He's done sleep-overs before but usually only for one night. We were busy the entire weekend with parties so the girls were distracted and didn't think about how much they missed him and boy did they ever. We talked on the phone everyday and Aidan was having a ball fishing, swimming and canoeing in the lake. The day's couldn't go by fast enough for them to go with Aidan on vacation. We decided to leave Tues night and get there late and then still have a full day Wed to enjoy. We left at 7:30 for our 3 1/2 hour trip and it went pretty well. Brynn fell asleep by 8:30 and didn't even wake up for our one bathroom pit stop. Molly stayed up till almost 10. I now know why John Denver sang Take Me Home Country Road because that country road leading up to the lake was probably the windiest road we've ever been on. Added with the fact that it was pitch black out and you couldn't see anything and the speed limit on it was 55. Tim seemed like he was an old Sunday driver with about 4 cars backed up behind us. We made it there safely and the girls woke up to give their big brother the biggest hugs.
