Birthday Weekend

We're finally recovering from our busy weekend. Friday was the girls actual birthday. Tim took a half day so we could do something fun with them. Unfortunately the weather didn't want to cooperate and it kept looking like it was going to rain so we ended up taking the girls out to lunch. We went to Friendly's since Brynn wanted a hot dog for lunch and Molly wanted a cheeseburger. Afterwards, we did one of their favorite things and went shopping!!! We had to get things for their party on Sunday so we went to Sam's Club. That night we had Aidan's first orchestra concert at his school. This was his first year of playing the violin. He now can play twinkle, twinkle little star like a pro. In the beginning when he practiced, we thought for sure we were in for a long year : ) After the concert we came home to have some ice cream and to sing happy birthday to the girls.

Saturday we woke up and got ready to go see the Backyardigans Live. Tim and I took the girls for their birthday. Aidan spent the night over Tim's parents since he didn't want to come along. I think he had the right idea. The girls were so excited for the show and it was cute for them. We were expecting to see the characters in full costume but it ended up being the actors dressed like them with their faces showing. Luckily we sat pretty far back so I'm not sure the girls noticed that or not. They seemed to enjoy it. At one point in the show there's a dragon egg that hatches a little bit at a time. First it runs around with legs and then later gets wings on the back of the egg. When the wings appeared it started to fly but as it took off one of it's legs fell off and landed on the stage. The girls noticed this right away and wanted to know why egbert only had one leg. Molly said the other one disappeared!!! When you ask how they liked the show she tells everyone about egbert leg falling off.
Later that day we had another party to go to for our friend's 40th birthday. Aidan was still with his Grammy and PopPop enjoying all the attention he was getting so he stayed there while we went. We had a fun time seeing a bunch of friends that we haven't seen since Nov. We came home in time to pick up Aidan and put the girls to bed.

Sunday we woke and got ready for the party. It wasn't till 3 but we had a bunch of stuff to get done. Both Molly & Brynn were so excited when they woke up. They ran around the house announcing that it was their "birthday party day" !!!! We had a full house with family and a few friends but everyone got to be outside as well since it turned out to be a beautiful day. The girls loved running around playing with their cousins. I thought they would love opening presents this year but after a few they both wanted to play with their new gifts. Molly informed me she was going to save the rest for later so she could play with her new vanity set. Brynn on the other hand wanted to try everything on. Once she got to a dress up princess set she was done too. She put on a sleeping beauty costume complete with the high heels which she loved and walked around. Their cousin Kendall loves dressing up as well so she was Snow White for the rest of the night with Brynn. This year when we sang Happy Birthday we sang to each girl individually. The look on their faces was priceless when they realized we were singing just for them. Brynn chowed down on a cookie the whole time that she was eyeing up all day. All in all, it was a perfect day for a their 3rd birthday! They keep telling me they want to have another party! I told them they have to wait till they turn 4 and their answer is "I want to be 4". I'm sure that will be here in a blink!!!
