This past weekend Tim and Aidan went on a "boys only" camping trip with the McCay boys'. Tim's Dad, his brother Jeff and nephew Ryan went camping up in Lancaster in the pop-up. They left Friday night and weren't coming home till Sunday. My sister, Donna and I and the girls went down to stay with my other sister Lisa at the shore. We left Saturday morning and had a great weekend.
On Friday when the guys left, Brynn was crying so bad that she wanted to go too. I had to keep reminding her that we were going to Aunt Lisa's but they don't quite get the time concept. So in her eyes "tomorrow" wasn't soon enough. She finally calmed down when I let her play on the computer. They went to bed early because they couldn't wait for tomorrow to start!!
Saturday we headed down Lisa's first thing in the morning. We took advantage of the beautiful weather down there and spent the afternoon outside. The girls had a ball just running around the yard finding all the dogs toys. After lunch we headed over Ocean City to walk the boardwalk. Molly and Brynn stayed in their stroller for about 15 minutes and then wanted to walk. They were good as gold the whole time there but then again they love being outside. When we got back to Lisa's, the boys (Matt and Brian) were home from work so they had fun with their cousins. I thought for sure they would pass out by the time we got back because we walked the whole boardwalk and they walked the majority of it. But back at Lisa's they were having running races on the front yard with Ashley. Needless to say they went to bed in their sleeping bags without a hitch and fell right to sleep.
Sunday was cloudy when we woke up but we wanted to take the girls to the Cape May Zoo. We took Aidan there a bunch of times when he was smaller and haven't had them there yet. Before we left, Lisa told them that they have a petting zoo and that we can feed the animals. She went on to explain you put food in your hand and they eat it. Apparently Brynn thought she meant they were going to eat her!!! She came in with me when I was getting dressed and said "The giraffe not eat me". I think she needed to be reassured that this was indeed the case and we wouldn't be eaten by any animals at the zoo!!! Luckily the rain held out for us while we there and we had a fun day at the zoo. They loved feeding the goats and wanted to see the giraffe the whole time. When we
finally got to the giraffe he was pretty far away in the field eating. They both were screaming for him to come over. By the end, I was exhausted and they were still going!! We stopped for lunch at Wendy's and the big news of the weekend was that Molly pooped on the potty. We were waiting to order and she informed me that she needed to go poop on the potty. She has said this in the past with no luck. Of course she has to pick a nice dirty public bathroom to finally do it. I think it scared her but after all of us making a big fuss she was excited. We stopped at Cape May Wicker before heading home. I think we were about 10 minutes into the ride and the girls passed out and slept the whole way home.
Tim and Aidan were already home when we got there and they had a ball as well this weekend. Aidan loved camping and especially loved the Strasburg Railroad. He also enjoyed fishing and making smores. He took his camera and has some really good pictures that he took. He told me it felt weird not having the girls and me there. So all in all it was a fun weekend getaway for the McCay's!
