Summer's officially over : (

So today is the official last day of summer, but it's already the beginning of cold season in the McCay household. Last Sunday was so hot and humid and the kids spent most of Erin's baptism party in Uncle Jeff's pool. Brynn was starting with a runny nose but wasn't sure if it was allergies or a cold. We were home by 8:00 that night and the girls went right to bed. But by 10:30 Brynn was up with what sounded like a croupy cough. We ended up taking her in the bathroom and running a hot shower to help her. That did the trick and she was back to sleep in no time. Again at 12:30 she was up again but sounded a bit more wheezy this time and it took a bit in the bathroom to get it under control. When we put her back into bed she was still wheezing and we both noticed her nostrils flaring. Of course this was one of the signs we learned when she had the pneumonia back in April. Tim wasted no time and wanted to take her right to the er. We scooped her up and put her in the car and off he went. He called by 1:30 to say that took her right back and said her lungs sounded clear but wanted to take a chest xray to be sure and they did a nebulizer breathing treatment on her. She was diagnosed with bronchiospasm which is the same as someone having an asthma attack. Although they didn't think she has asthma they think it was just from the virus that caused the croup got into her bronchi. The ER doc also told Tim they had 10 cases of croup in that night alone and were wondering if it had something to do with the humid weather that day. They didn't get home until 5:30am and Brynn slept till 10:30. We had to give her 4 neb treatments on Monday and then follow up with her pediatrician on Wednesday. She was tired on Monday but I think it was from being up half the night because boy we were beat too!!! She went for her follow up on Wed and her pediatrician said her lungs still sounded great and everything else looked good so we just had to let it run it's course. Of course now, I'm sick with a head cold and Tim and Molly both have a slight cough. Brynn is doing much better and so far Aidan's been ok but I'm sure he's next.

The girls also started taking a ballet class through our township. It's only once a week for 6 weeks but I thought it would be a great way to try it out to see if it's something they would like before signing them up for dance lessons. Brynn was still not feeling 100%. Halfway through the class she came crying to me and said she wanted to go home. Molly on the other hand loved it and had the biggest smile the entire time.
