Christmas Spectacular and the Gambler

Yesterday, my two sisters and one niece went to NY for the day to see the Rockettes at the Radio City Music Hall. This was my first time seeing them. The weather held out for us since they were calling for rain and it wasn't too cold so it was great walking around the city. My sister Donna and I took the train in and met my other sister Lisa and niece Ashley there. After walking around Penn station for 20 minutes trying to find each other we had a quick bite for lunch and were on our way. We walked the 20 blocks to Rockefeller center and saw the huge Christmas tree and made it to Radio City Music Hall right in time before the show. When we got inside we weren't quite sure where we were to go so we were trying to go through the one doors I noticed a familiar face. I thought it was Kenny Rogers but wasn't sure. I said to Donna right away "Isn't that?" and he was literally standing right in front of us. She recognized his wife more than him because she said she just watched a special last week with them and his twin boys on it. I told her to go up and ask for a picture but she wouldn't do it. I didn't have my camera with me or I would've least taken a picture. Lisa on the other hand didn't believe us when we told her it was him she thought it was some old man. He really was almost unrecognizable apparently plastic surgery does not agree with him. After all our debate he told his wife he was going to the bathroom and he would meet up with them. After the fact, Donna felt bad that no one was going up to him. Maybe everyone was doing the same thing as us debating whether or not it was really him. I don't know what it is about New York but the only famous people I've seen have been old singers that my mom loved. When Tim took me there for my birthday a few years ago we saw Tom Jones at the hotel we were staying at. We didn't get a picture of him either but then again he was sunbathing in his speedo! yikes!!
The show was great except I was trying to keep from laughing because the woman sitting next to me probably slept through the majority of the show but would pop up and applaud at all the appropriate times. Afterwards we stopped in St. Patrick's cathedral and lit candles. We stopped at a Friday's for dinner and paid for the way overpriced dinner. Chicken fingers were $20!!!! We then walked down to Times square. This was the first time I was ever there during the holidays and it is really pretty to walk around with everything all lit up and decorated. One thing we did notice was that wherever there was a salvation army bucket the volunteer would be singing Christmas songs. Some better than others. The biggest laugh of the day came when the four of us were walking by a girl singing " The First Noel" and right when we were in front of her she started hacking coughing in the middle of singing. We all cracked up instantly!!
After getting our fair share of sight seeing in, it was getting late. We still had the train ride home so we walked back to the train station only we walked about 15 blocks in the wrong direction!!! We made it to the train station just in time for the 7:30 train and boy did it feel good to finally sit down. It was a fun day.
A big Thankyou goes out to my niece Melissa who came over with Kendall and Ethan to babysit for us at the last minute. Tim was going to be home that day but had to take a management class for work and couldn't get out of it. The girls were in their glory with them here. They're still talking about how much fun they had and tell me to go bye-bye's again so they can come back. I think I may request a weekly babysitting job for her since our rec room/playroom was much cleaner and more organized than when I left!!!

Note: pictures will be added as soon as my niece emails me them. Hint, Hint!!!
