Aidan had a fun "boy birthday" for his 10th birthday. Tim bought Phillies tickets awhile back from a friend at work who has season tickets. He bought all 6 tickets thinking we could go as a family and bring someone else along. I don't think the girls are quite ready to sit through a whole game. Sure they would love all the snacks they could get and watching the Philly Phanatic when he was out but other than that they'd get bored pretty quick. So we asked Aidan who he would like to go with. He picked all his big boy cousins and thought it would be a fun boy's night out. We weren't sure if his cousin "Little" Brian ( my kids call him little Brian even though he's 20 years old now)could go because he may have to work. Aidan told me if he couldn't go than I could go along. Gee thanks, I wasn't even considered before then. Brian was able to go so it was going to be Tim, Aidan, Brian, Matt, Bobby and Shane. They day before Bobby found out he had a make up baseball game for school so he wouldn't be able to go. We again asked Aidan who we should ask instead and he opted for Uncle Mike. Who even though just turned 50 is probably still one of the biggest kid's around. He was able to go so their night was set.
When Aidan came home from school his cousins were already here. The girls were upset that we weren't having a party for Aidan's birthday and that all the boys were going to be leaving. We bought some cupcakes so we could quick sing to Aidan before he left so they felt part of it.
We also made arrangements to have Aidan's name put on the scoreboard for his birthday and sang to. We thought for sure he would be mortified with the last part since we traumatized him on his 4th birthday when we had the waiters sing to him at Friday's. He hid under the table as soon as he realized it was for him. I'm happy to say he did much better at the Phillies game.
The weather wasn't the best and they had to sit through some rain. When they came to sing to him there weren't too many people in their seats in his section so he wasn't too embarrassed. He had a ball at the game and stayed till the end even though the Phils lost. He was happy that at least they got a homerun in the bottom of the 9th. They got home late and boy was he tired the next morning but said it was well worth it.
We'll be celebrating again tomorrow night since we're celebrating Aidan's birthday along with the girls birthdays with our families before we go to Disney!!
