Pretend Birthday

This past Saturday we had a family party to celebrate all three kids birthdays. The girls didn't quite get the concept that it was for them too. They know their birthday is coming up and they know they'll be in Disney World when it does but why we were having a party now seemed crazy. Of course once they realized they would be getting presents they were suddenly keen on the idea. The morning of the party, I was making beds while Tim was out doing yard work and the girls we're running around playing. After ignoring my many requests to stop running, I went down to the kitchen when I could hear running footsteps down the hall and into their bedroom above me. After which came a thud and then crying. Brynn screamed down that Molly fell and was hurt. As I was getting ready of giving my lecture about running in the house and ignoring my requests I walk in to find Molly had hit her eye on the corner of her nightstand when she fell and had a pretty decent gash right below her eyebrow. I scooped her up to get something to put pressure on it when it started to bleed and run down her face. I quickly put a towel on it along with an ice pack and hollered for Tim to come look at it. It was questionable whether or not it needed stitches. I thought it may need a couple and Tim thought it may be ok since the bleeding stopped but with it on her face and us leaving in a few days for vacation, I didn't want to risk it. Tim being the old pro at it by now took her to the ER. It turns out she didn't need stitches but they glued it and steristrips and sent her on her way. The ER doc did say it was good we brought her in because with that type of injury they like to check the eye out as well and she was fine. So a couple hours later they were back home and back to getting ready for the party.
My niece Melissa came over a little later in the day with the girls faves Kendall and Ethan. They had fun playing with them and getting manicures and pedicures out on the deck in the warm weather. It felt like the middle of July not April. Everyone else came after dinner for cake and ice cream. It was such a fun night. Everyone spent it outside on our patio and the kids had a ball playing.
