Molly and Grandmom 7/07Today would've been my grandmom, Lillian Bloomer's, 99th birthday. She passed away this past November. We thought for sure she was going to outlive all of us with all her spunk!! She was Aidan's birthday buddy since my due date for him was her 90th birthday but he decided to come a day early. We always got to celebrate his birthday with her and this year we'll miss her but we have so many funny stories of her to keep us smiling. I took the girls to put flowers on her grave today in honor of her birthday. This was the first time I had them there. How do you explain a cemetery to almost 3 year olds? I told them it was a special place to think of Grandmom and that we we're going to put pretty flowers there for her birthday. They helped pick them out and we're excited to be out in the beautiful weather. Brynn kept saying we were going to see Grandmom the whole way there and I kept trying to explain that she was up in heaven way above the clouds and that she would see the pretty flowers but that we couldn't see her. After we were there for a little bit, I told them to say happy birthday to Grandmom and Molly started looking around like she was walking up somewhere. I told her, remember Grandmom is up in heaven and Brynn chimed in "above the clouds". See they do listen... sometimes!!! She then looked up in the sky and said as loud as could be, "I don't see her". I reminder her again that we couldn't see her but she could see us. She thought about it a minute and in her usual request said " I want to go shopping". She's destined to be a shop-a-holic when she gets older. Here is a picture from today. No I don't normally take pictures of my girls at cemeteries but my grandparents headstone just was delivered so I was taking a picture for my Aunt to see the finished project until she gets up to visit. Besides if I know Grandmom she's up in heaven bragging about "her girls"!
