Please and Thankyou

From early on we try to teach our kids to be polite. To always say please and thankyou even if it's with a little reminder from us. I'm always proud when we get a compliment from a teacher or another parent on how polite Aidan is. It's good to know that he is in the habit even when Mom and Dad aren't around. Molly & Brynn have been saying "peas" and "gankyou" since they started talking especially with constant reminders of "what do you say" or "how do you ask nicely". I think it's finally starting to sink in. A couple days ago I asked Molly if she wanted to have lunch and she responded "yes, please". At dinner I asked her if she wanted to try something off my plate she said "no thanks". She's been our tougher one. Brynn on the other hand is very polite even when being demanding. ; ) She always says thankyou even when she gives something to someone else she'll say thankyou for them. You will always hear Brynn telling Molly bless you whether she sneezes or coughs.

I love listening to the girls talk to each other in their room through their monitor. This morning Tim and I woke up laughing (always a good way to start the day) Brynn was awake first and started calling Molly and asking "you awake". She then started to sing which she never does. Molly loves to sing and makes up all different songs to familiar tunes. Brynn doesn't like anyone singing along to songs especially Mommy in the car. I agree, I definitely didn't inherit my mother's singing voice! So to hear her singing this morning was quite a treat. She was singing a song she made us as she went along which we'll call "Woody's got shoes" since that was pretty much the only verse. She sleeps with Aidan's old Woody doll which actually was their cousin Shane's first. This doll sure has been loved. So anyway she was singing for about 5 minutes when she asked Molly if she wanted to sing and Molly responded no, thanks I too tired. I think Molly finally had enough and told Brynn to "be quiet!"

On another note, the girls are still talking about their cousin Ethan's first birthday party or as Brynn says "I want to do that again please."My niece had it at her Grandmother's farm (the Foster's) and the girls and Aidan had a ball. Brynn would've loved to get down and dirty but unfortunately for her, Mommy put her in a dress with her favorite sparkly shoes. That didn't stop her from going exploring with her Aunt Patti down by the creek or walking around with the donkeys in their barn. Which is not a good idea with sparkly shoes!!! At one point the girls were still outside with Tim and their uncles and Mr. Foster came in and said that Molly rode on one of the donkeys. We were all like are you sure because Molly is the more cautious of the two. Brynn is our fearless one and will try anything. But he was right Molly wanted to ride on the donkey and Brynn didn't. Maybe Molly' adventurous side had something to do with the fact that one of the donkey's name is Elmo and the other is Meghan. She thought that was pretty funny since her cousin Meghan was there too and they have the same name. I think the picture below is her on Meghan. After she was done, she was still in their barn feeding them some hay and Elmo walked outside. Molly was standing in the doorway watching him when Meghan decided she wanted to go outside but Molly was blocking her way. She gave Molly a little nudge with her nose right on Molly's butt. At first I think Molly thought it was her Uncle Jimmy but when she turned around she saw this big donkey head right behind her and then she started to cry. I think that might be the end of her daring streak!
